Chicken and Tilly

Are my two cats.
Chicken is the newest addition to our family. We got her about two months ago. She's a grey calico and is the cutest thing I think I have ever met. When she wants to be pet so rolls over onto her side and hugs your arm. I die a little inside from cuteness each time. Unfortunately Chicken hates, I mean seriously hates, being picked up.
Tilly is a fat, black cat. She is the sassy black lady of the house. Also one of the cutest cats I've seen. (Can you tell I'm a little biased) She barely likes being pet, just likes to sit beside you. (that's what she's doing right now) When she roll over onto her belly and you start to pet her, she'll nip you. The only plus is that she lets you pick her up, though it's almost like lifting weights when you do. And before anyone freaks out about her weight she is on a diet but somehow still won't loose the weight.

There are two problems when it comes to these cats. One is that Chicken is free fed, while Tilly has her 3/4 cup of food a day max. So that means when Chicken wants to eat we have to lock her in a room so Tilly doesn't get to the food. Which is frustrating for my roommate because it's her room that Chicken lives in basically all day.

Second problem is that Tilly seems to hate Chicken. There was a few days where it seemed like, yah they could totally tolerate each other. But those days are long gone, well not that long gone. So somehow we have to make Tilly feel loved, even if she doesn't like to be loved all the time, and hopefully convince her to at least tolerate Chicken. While also making Chicken feel comfortable around us and Tilly. Because we want a happy family. Now is that so much to ask?

(Sorry for the long rant)
